Zhanna Alkhazova has been first place winner of the Rhode Island NATS Competition and finalist in the Lakes Region Opera Competition. Recently Ms. Alkhazova made the switch from mezzo soprano to soprano roles. Her operatic credits include Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Second Lady in Magic Flute, Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Infirmiera and La Badessa in Suor Angelica, Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, Le Chat in L’enfant et les Sortileges and partial roles of Marguerite in Faust, Bess in Porgy and Bess, Lisa in Queen of Spades, Countess in Le nozze di Figaro and Mimi in La Boheme.
Internationally she has performed in Chiari, Italy in the partial role of Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni, and toured the Republic of Ireland as the soprano soloist in Honegger’s King David. Ms. Alkhazova has performed with such companies as Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Boston, Opera Providence, Longwood Opera and Opera del West. In May of 2008, she completed her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Boston University, where she was featured in several prominent roles as part of Boston University Opera Institute.
