Mezzo Soprano Catherine Hedberg, has been acclaimed for her “soulful singing” and “gorgeous mezzo” by The Boston Globe. She is a member of the Cantata Singers, with whom she has appeared as soloist in performances of Bach’s B Minor Mass, Cantatas BWV 11 and 34 and Nicholas Maw’s One Foot in Eden Still I Stand in Jordan Hall. She has performed with the Musicians of the Old Post Road as Dameta in Caldara's Amarilli Vezzosa and as a soloist in a holiday program of Spanish villancicos, which was recorded for 2009 release on the Meridian Records label. She recently performed the role of L’Ecureuil in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges with MetroWest Opera, and has appeared as soloist with Newport Baroque Orchestra, Handel Society at Dartmouth College , Exsultemus Period Ensemble, Nashua Symphony Choral Society, Symphony Pro Musica, Masterworks Chorale, and in Bach's Cantata BWV 146 under the direction of Ton Koopman in Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. In recital, Ms. Hedberg's repertoire spans from music of the Spanish Renaissance to the Brahms viola songs to new music by American composers. She has a particular interest in Spanish song and has presented well-loved and lesser-known works of Iberian composers in the United States and Spain . Ms. Hedberg has appeared in the Cantata Singers Chamber Series, King's Chapel Noontime Series, Taylor House Concert Series, and the Harvard Business School Concert Series.
