Tenor Richard J. Monroe has performed throughout New England as a tenor soloist, music theatre performer and opera singer. His most recent operatic performances have been with Greater Worcester Opera, with featured roles in Die Fledermaus and Gianni Schicchi. Monroe has been heard as a concert soloist with many regional ensembles including the Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Arcadia Players, Salisbury Singers, the Master Singers of Worcester, the Worcester Chorus, and the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra.

His concert repertoire includes Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, and the Requiems of both Mozart and Verdi. With operatic ensembles such as Commonwealth Opera, Longwood Opera and Salisbury Lyric Opera, he has been featured in the roles of Don José in Carmen, Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, and both Eisenstein and Alfred in Die Fledermaus.

In recent years much of his attention has been focused on directing and producing. He was a co-director of Salisbury Lyric Opera, a co-founder of Nth Stage Productions, and has served as a musical director for countless regional music theatre productions. Currently Mr. Monroe works full-time as a teacher and choral director at Saint John's High School in Shrewsbury where he is the chairperson of the Fine Arts Department. He is also the Director of Music at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Worcester.
