Baritone Thomas Jones has a performance career spanning more than three decades and continues to appear with orchestras, opera companies, choral ensembles, pops concerts and on recital series throughout North America, Europe and the West Indies. Critics from coast to coast have hailed his performances as elegant, passionate, expressive and sensitive. He continues to sing countless opera galas, bringing to life the great baritone operatic repertoire. In metropolitan Boston, appearances include Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Boston Civic Orchestra, Newton Choral Society, Back Bay Chorale, Coro Allegro, Cape Cod Symphony, Arcadia Chamber Orchestra, Nashua Symphony, Providence Singers, Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Series, Nantucket Arts and others. Jones has also performed with many theater companies in roles ranging from Gershwin to Rogers & Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim and currently appears often with pops orchestras and on performance series where he showcases a vast array of musical theater repertoire.
Thomas Jones has made solo appearances with hundreds of choruses and orchestras throughout The USA, appearing under the baton of notable maestros such as Christopher Hogwood, Nicholas McGegan, Roger Norrington, Thomas Dunn, John Alexander, Jon Washburn, Daniel Beckwith, Robert Page, Jung-Ho Pak, John Oliver, Stephen Simon, Tom Hall and Gerald Mack. And, has premiered new works by composers Libby Larson, Dave Brubeck, John Goodman and others. Recordings include Handel “Messiah” for National Public Radio and Handel “Samson” with the Canadian Broadcast Orchestra and the Vancouver Chamber Choir and Canadian Broadcast Orchestra.
Finally, as a teacher, vocal coach and clinician, Thomas Jones has taught master classes from coast to coast and has adjudicated at countless choral festivals and solo competitions throughout the United States. Mr. Jones has taught voice and vocal performance at Harvard University for 25 years in addition to conducting campus master classes and coaching many of Harvard’s a cappella groups. He also served as Vocal Coach to “The Hasty Pudding Theatricals” for ten years and continues to maintain a close affiliation with The Pudding. Mr. Jones also serves as Minister of Music at Old Cambridge Baptist Church in Harvard Square.
