Sam Parkinson

Sam ParkinsonSam Parkinson is an upcoming American bass-baritone based in Boston, MA. This is Parkinson’s first time singing with the Assabet Valley Mastersingers. Parkinson recently received his Masters Degree from The Boston Conservatory.

While at the conservatory Parkinson sang Bartolo, Le nozze di Figaro; Dr. Grenvil, La traviata; Immigration Officer, Flight; ; Collatinus The Rape of Lucretia; Sarastro, The Magic Flute; and Haly, L’Italiana in algiers; Father Truelove, The Rake’s Progress.

Parkinson has recently sung Snug in Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Lakes Area Music Festival and Balthazar in Amahl and The Night Visitors with St. Peters Episcopal Church in Cambridge, MA.

Parkinson has also been a featured artist at the Trentino Music Festival where he sang Superintendent Budd, Albert Herring; The Forester, The Cunning Little Vixen and Curio, Giulio Cesare.

Parkinson has been a featured soloist with the Boston Pops and the BSO in Symphony Hall and at Tanglewood. Parkinson recently sang compramarios in Candide with the BSOat Tanglewood where the Philadelphia Times called him “a young man.” Parkinson has further served as a rehearsal soloist for Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at Tanglewood. Additionally, Parkinson has been a featured soloist at the historic Old North Church in the Boston North End where he was renowned for his oratorio and concert works.

While receiving a BM and MM in voice performance from The Boston Conservatory, Parkinson cofounded the Boston Conservatory Student Opera; an organization devoted to expanding performance opportunities for young opera students. In the inaugural season Parkinson directed Jake Heggie’s To Hell and Back and Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief.
