Louise Garone

Operations Chair

Louise is a scientist (Ph.D. in Biochemistry), a humanist (vocal avocation), and a cradle-American (born in Brooklyn, New York to parents of Irish and Italian immigrant ancestry). Since moving to Massachusetts in 1991 she has sung with AVM (31 years with substantial interruptions for childbearing and demanding work schedules), the Mastersingers of Worcester (5y) and the Adult Choir of St. Mary’s Parish, Shrewsbury (26y). Music, especially choral singing, refreshes the soul. Entering retirement at the height of the COVID 19 pandemic was an unusual experience. “Being retired” continues to be full of new opportunities and challenges for Louise, not the least of which is re-election to Chair Operations of the

Assabet Valley Mastersingers. As she recently said, “I did not expect that experience working within and across Research and Development at all stages of the pharmaceutical lifecycle would be useful to a choral society but am happy to report it does seem to have been helpful, or at least not to have resulted in irreparable damage”. When not singing or supporting AVM in other ways Louise enjoys spending time with family and friends, travel, reading, gardening and crafting counted cross stitch.
